Solid hardwood rug prodding tool. Nicely finished tool to make rugs using the prodding method by poking strips of fabric through hessian from the back. Rag rugs made this way have many names; clippies, proddies, stobbies. The finished rug is often called a proggy mat and in Scotland they are called clootie mats.
